About This Spot

Stepping into Bangkok Center Grocery is like wandering into a tucked-away corner of Thailand right in the heart of New York City’s Chinatown. The space is cozy and intentionally compact, a treasure trove where every shelf seems to brim with stories and ingredients waiting to ignite a kitchen adventure. There’s a gentle hum here—a quiet rhythm of discovery as visitors, whether seasoned home cooks or curious first-timers, carefully explore the rich variety of authentic Thai herbs, spices, and pantry staples.

The atmosphere hums with a humble, welcoming spirit. Though the aisles feel narrow, they invite you to slow down and take in the textures and colors of packages and fresh herbs that might be unfamiliar elsewhere. It’s the kind of place where finding rare, hard-to-track-down ingredients feels like a small victory, a secret unlocked for your next homemade meal.

Behind the counter, the friendly service matches the warm intimacy of the space, with staff who clearly appreciate the meaningful role they play in preserving culinary traditions and supporting those who want to explore them. The modest size of Bangkok Center Grocery only adds to its charm—it doesn’t shout for attention but rewards those who stumble on it with genuinely thoughtful finds.

For anyone longing to bring more authentic Thai flavors into their kitchen, this neighborhood grocery is less about speed and more about savoring the moment of discovery. It’s a quiet corner where local food culture lingers—not in flash or spectacle, but in the small, joyful details of ingredients that have traveled far to arrive here.

Bangkok Center Grocery, a small, well-stocked Thai grocery store, is a go-to spot in New York City's Chinatown for authentic and hard-to-find ingredients.

While this store may have a smaller footprint, it’s absolutely densely packed with Thai kitchen supplies and food items. Easy to miss, and a gem to find.

One of my favorite place in the city! Definitely my go to every I have to cook a Thai dish and I always get so much stuff that I cook Thai for days! This place is just amazing - you can find everything you cannot find in the other grocery store and I like to support small businesses Also they are very friendly and kind Very recommended

Small, easy to miss, but such joy when you find it. A nice stock of genuine Thai products with reasonable prices. There are fresh spices and herbs too. I like the friendly service. I've been here several times and will definitely come back!

The nam sausage was $2 here but $1.50 at Tan Tin Hung. A lot of the items did not have prices on them. If you're cooking a Thai recipe, I would check Tan Tin Hung first for better prices.

This place is amazing! The owner is super friendly, perfect for all Thai ingredients. What I’ve seen there: Makrut lime leaves, galangal, Thai chilies, all types of noodles, Thai eggplant, sawtooth coriander, Thai basil, green pawpaw, Gapi, palm sugar, tamarind, shrimp soybean oil, Grachai, all types of Thai soy sauces, fish sauce, oyster sauce, Pandanus leaves, frozen banana leaves. Hope that helps anyone looking for a specific ingredient.

????????Best Thai grocery store in NYC Well stocked store and very clean I picked up fresh packaged Thai basil, Kefir lime leaves, and Thai eggplant. I picked up coconut milk, bamboo shoots, oyster sauce, Thai soy sauce, black soy sauce, and fish sauce. Highly recommend. The store owner was very knowledgeable and gave great advice for some cooking methods and which products would be best for the dishes I was making.
